Bangladesh's former Law Minister Barrister Maudud Ahmed was arrested Friday from his residence in the capital Dhaka as the current caretaker government continued crusade against corrupt politicians and businessmen.

According to Ahmed's family, a convoy of military raided Ahmed's residence Thursday night and picked him up Friday morning.

Earlier, the interim government led by Chief Advisor Fakhruddin Ahmed assuming power on Jan. 12 under the state of emergency rounded up scores of former ministers and members of parliament on charges of corruption and abuse of power.

Fakhruddin Ahmed who addressed the nation Thursday evening said the current administration will show zero tolerance to corrupts. He also announced that the country will have parliamentary elections before the end of next year.
