Top Vietnamese legislator Nguyen Phu Trong concluded his China tour and left Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, for home on Sunday.
Nanning is the last leg of Nguyen's official good-will China visit, which started on April 8.
During his visit to Nanning, Nguyen, chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, met with Liu Qibao, secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee of the Communist Party of China and other officials.
Liu said that Guangxi is geographically very close to Vietnam and keeps in close touch with lots of Vietnamese provinces. Vietnam is the largest trading partner of Guangxi in ASEAN.
Liu called on the two sides to cooperate closely in the construction of transport infrastructure between China and Vietnam and make joint efforts to promote China-ASEAN cooperation.
Nguyen said he was delighted to see the remarkable achievements Guangxi has made in its economic and social development. He said Vietnam and Guangxi have great potential for sound cooperation and called for joint efforts to cement Vietnam-China friendship.
He also visited Nanning International Exhibition Center and a modern agricultural technology center.
Nguyen made his first China tour as top legislator and as guest of his Chinese counterpart Wu Bangguo.
During his stay in Beijing, Chinese president Hu Jintao, Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo and China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin met with him respectively.
