A Canadian professor teaching at Virginia Tech University is one of the 32 victims killed in the shooting rampage on the school campus Monday, local media reported Tuesday.
Jocelyne Couture-Nowak, a French-language professor originally from the province of Nova Scotia, has been identified as one of the victims of the worst shooting incident in U.S. history.
Her husband, horticulturist Jerzy Nowak who also teaches at Virginia Tech University, confirmed her death to Canadian newspaper "The Globe and Mail" in a brief telephone interview.
Couture-Nowak married her husband, who taught at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, in the 1990s. The couple moved to Virginia in 2000.
She had taught intermediate French at Virginia Tech for many years and was a well-liked and respected instructor, according to comments posted on a Virginia Tech website used by students to rate their professors.
Besides Couture-Nowak, at least three other professors have been identified as victims in the shooting event.
