Chinese Vice President meets German DM

Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong met in Beijing on Wednesday with visiting German Minister of Defense Franz Josef Jung, vowing to further promote the China-Germany partnership with global responsibility.

Zeng highlighted achievements in bilateral ties since the two countries forged diplomatic relations in 1972, saying mutual respect continued to increase and the two sides consulted and cooperated well in international issues.

China and Germany would continue to improve cooperation in order to consolidate political mutual trust, economic links and cultural exchanges, Zeng said.

This is Jung's first visit to China since becoming defense minister. He recognized the rapid development of relations between the two armies, saying Germany and China shared common interests in international issues.

Jung, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, expressed the hope of boosting mutual understanding and military exchanges through the visit.

He said Germany would adhere to the one-China policy.
