Dow closes with its record high

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday with the Dow closing with a record high, after lower- than-expected earnings from Yahoo.

In the closing trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 30.80 points, or 0.24 percent, to 12,803.84, above 12,800 the first time, after hitting as high as 12,838.46. The Standard & Poor's 500 index added 1.02, or 0.07 percent, to 1,472.50, and the Nasdaq composite index fell 6.45, or 0.26 percent, to 2,510.50.

Yahoo Inc. reported first-quarter earnings of 142 million dollars, or 10 cents a share, below the 11 cents that analysts had been expecting. Yahoo Inc. stock fell sharply.

World crude oil futures rose slightly on Wednesday on U.S. energy stockpiles report.
