A car bomb exploded inside an Ethiopian military base in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Thursday, reports said.

The reports said the explosion took place in Aslubta camp for hundreds of Ethiopian soldiers in the suburb of Mogadishu. There were no available information about casualties.

Also on Thursday, eight people were killed and ten others were wounded in a heavy fighting broke out between insurgent groups and Ethiopian and Somali transitional government troops in Mogadishu as Ethiopian soldiers tried to take new positions in the north of the city, witnesses said.
