The National Working Group for IPR Protection recently published "China's Action Plan on IPR Protection 2007". According to the plan, China will better protect property rights (IPR) protection in a variety of ways, by improving legislation and law-enforcement and creating institutions to oversee and enforce this.

The authorities will draft, formulate and revise 14 laws, regulations, rules and administrative measures on trademarks, copyrights, patents and Customs protection, as well as 7 judicial interpretations and guidelines. Fourteen campaigns will be launched to crack down on pirated textbooks, and eleven extended law enforcement programs will be carried out. Eight measures will be in place to encourage self-innovation and inventiveness. Effort will be made in eight areas to establish potent enforcement coordination mechanism.
