After two days of talks on the border issue, the high-level delegations of India and China left South India's Coonoor hill resort town for New Delhi Monday, news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

Among those who stayed at the Coonoor town included Special Representative of India and National Security Advisor M K Narayanan and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo, who led the delegations.

The leaders are expected to make a joint statement on progress of talks in New Delhi, PTI said.

The diplomats held discussions for nearly eight hours during their two-day stay in South India on Saturday and Sunday.

Indian Ambassador to China Nirupama Rao and Chinese Ambassador to India San Su Si were also present during the talks.
