Pakistan said Monday the forthcoming meeting between the presidents of Pakistan and Afghanistan would be another opportunity to clear misunderstandings between the two countries on several issues.
"There has been a lack of understanding on Pakistan's policies and views on the part of Afghanistan," Pakistani Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said at a weekly news briefing here.
"It's always useful to have dialogue," she said.
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai will visit Turkish capital Ankara on April 29-30 for talks under Turkey's auspices aiming to cool tensions between the two countries in the war against terror.
Aslam said the issues that needed to be addressed between the two countries included process of reconciliation, absence of reconstruction efforts, problems of drugs, warlords and other criminal elements.
She said Pakistan stood by Afghanistan in all times of adversity and wanted to have good relations with its neighbor.
"Pakistan wants peace and security in Afghanistan which is important for both countries and also for the region," the spokesperson added.
