Two more U.S. soldiers were killed in separate incidents in Iraq on Monday, bringing the number of U.S. soldiers killed in the day to 11, the U.S. military said.
A marine assigned to Multi National Force-West died Monday while conducting combat operations in Iraq's western province of Anbar, the military said in a statement.
A second soldier was killed at approximately 12:45 p.m. (0845 GMT) when an improvised explosive device exploded near his location in Maqdadiyah, the military said in an earlier statement.
Maqdadiyah, some 100 km northeast of Baghdad, is part of the Diyala province, in which the U.S. military announced nine more soldiers killed and 20 others wounded in a suicide car bomb attack at their patrol base.
The latest deaths brought the number of U.S. soldiers killed by the insurgent's deadly attacks on Monday to eleven in the hot spot provinces of Diyala and Anbar.
About 3,335 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
