The Hamas-led Palestinian coalition Wednesday dismissed Israeli reports over arms smuggling into Gaza and the entry of Iranian military experts into the territory.
"These are Israeli allegations, aiming at creating pretexts so that Israel can continue its aggression on the Palestinians," said Mohammed al-Madhoun, an aide to Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haneya.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who tours Europe, urged Hamas movement on Tuesday to commit itself again to the ceasefire after firing dozens of missiles into Israel.
He also called on Israel not to respond to Hamas rocket attacks while promised the violation of the half-year truce as an exception that will not reoccur.
Visiting Egyptian security delegation met with the Palestinian factions Tuesday night in a bid to save the endangered truce deal and prevent an Israeli retaliatory offensive against Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, the chief of the delegation has stressed before the representatives of the factions that the rocket attacks must be stopped. However, the militants blamed Israel for not halting its raids in the West Bank.
Despite the Egyptian effort, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) claimed responsibility for launching a rocket into an Israeli military base in southeast Gaza.
The group said the attack was in response to the Israeli army operations, vowing to fire more missiles.
