Russia, Italy win all-around titles at European Gymnastics

Russian Maxim Deviatovski and Italian Vanessa Ferrari won the men's and women's individual all-around titles respectively at the European gymnastics championships on Saturday in Amsterdam.

Deviatovski scored a total of 90.250 points, edging favorite Fabian Hambuechen of Germany to second on 89.675. And Yury Ryazanov of Russia took the bronze with 89.000 points.

Hambuechen had dominated all disciplines until the final apparatus when Deviatovski scored 15.100 in the rings to his German opponent's 14.450 for the top honor.

Rafael Martinez of Spain, the 2005 European champion, was fourth with 88.425 points.

In the women's individual event, world champion Ferrari won with 61.075 points. Sandra Izbasa of Romania was second with 59.900 points, and Ukraine's Alina Kozich, the 2004 European champion, was third with 59.300 points.
