Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Sunday appointed leader of the People's Front Nepal (PFN) Giriraj Mani Pokhrel as Minister for Health and Population.
The decision is according to the portfolio promised to PFN during the formation of the 22-member interim cabinet on April 5, reported the website nepalnews.com.
Pokhrel is scheduled to take oath of office and secrecy Sunday afternoon.
The PFN had recommended the names of party vice-chairman Pokhrel and central member Shashi Shrestha for the posts of Minister for Health and Population and state minister for the same portfolio, respectively, in the interim government.
According to sources, three other state ministers -- one from the Nepali Congress, Communist Party of Nepal (CPN-Maoist) and PFN each -- will also be appointed within the next four days.
