Gunmen kill 11 people south of Baghdad

Unknown gunmen shot dead 11 people and critically wounded three others when attacking a truck in area south of Baghdad, a well-informed police source said on Tuesday.

"Iraqi police patrols found in the morning a truck with 11 bodies of people that were shot dead overnight on the main road near the town of Iskandriyah town, some 50 km south of Baghdad," a local police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Three more people, including a woman and a child, were found seriously wounded in the truck, the source added.

The incident took place in a rebel area south of Baghdad known as the "triangle of death."
