Wreckage of Kenyan plane not precisely located: report
font size

Cameroonian Public Radio-Television (CRTV) reported on Sunday afternoon that the wreckage of Kenyan Airways' Boeing 737-800 is in the area of Awanda in the department of Ocean, southern Cameroon, but is yet to be precisely located.

Earlier the day, the CRTV's report said that the wreckage of the plane has been found.

However, Kenya Airways Managing Director Titus Naikuni said rescuers are still combing tropical forest in southern Cameroon for the wreckage of the plane that went missing shortly after takeoff on Saturday with 114 people on board.

"So far the latest information we have from Cameroon is that the plane has not been found. Some fishermen reported hearing a loud bang and experts have been dispatched to the area to try to locate the plane," Naikuni told a news conference in Nairobi.
