The Asian Development Bank (ADB) should continue to provide more high-quality knowledge products to assist its developing member economies in their course of growth, said Chinese Finance Minister Jin Renqing on Sunday at ADB's 40th annual meeting of the Board of Governors.
ADB boasts advantages on summarizing general experience in the region, and we think it should pursue an more integrated assistance package of investment, technology and expertise, Jin said in his speech at the first business session of the meeting.
He also suggested ADB establish a regional knowledge-sharing platform to facilitate exchanges of experience among member economies.
In his other advice for the development of the Manila-based financial institution, Jin, who is a member of the Board of Governors, call on the bank to further adapt itself to the changing world and to deal more vigorously with emerging challenges such as environmental pollution and economic inequality in this region.
"ADB should also try to minimize the cost of doing business with it and streamline its decision-making process," Jin added.
Jin also introduced China's aim of building up an energy-saving and environment-friendly socialist harmonious society, and reiterated the Chinese government's commitment of contribution to regional and global prosperity through its peaceful development.
