Gaza militants' projectiles wound two Israelis

Two Israelis were injured on Sunday afternoon by fragments of homemade projectiles fired by Palestinian militants from Gaza Strip at Israel, Israeli Radio reported.

The radio, cited Israeli police sources, reported that an Israeli woman was moderately injured after a homemade rocket fired from Gaza, hit the southern Israeli town of Sderout in southern Israel.

It added that the woman was injured when the rocket hit a house in the town. She was evacuated to a nearby Israeli hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, another Israeli man living in the area of Sha'ar Hanegev in southern Israel was also lightly injured by fragments of another homemade rocket fired from eastern Gaza Strip.

Palestinian eyewitnesses said that the rockets were launched as President Mahmoud Abbas was crossing Gaza Strip borders with Israel coming from Ramallah in the West Bank.

Abbas had always condemned attacks by homemade rockets carried out by Palestinian militants at southern Israel, where he always termed it as "absurd pipes."

Palestinian sources at Abbas office said that Abbas arrived in Gaza to hold talks with Prime Minister Ismail Haneya to preview a security plan aims at ending attacks on Israel and chaos in the Palestinian territories.

The witnesses said that militants from al-Quds Brigades, Islamic Jihad (Holy War) armed wing were seen in the area of northern and eastern Gaza Strip the moment the projectiles were fired at Israel.

Earlier Sunday, an Israeli security guard was seriously wounded as Palestinian gunmen opened fire at his car as he was guarding an Israeli truck carrying fuel near the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigafes of Abbas' Fatah movement claimed responsibility for the armed ambush, saying it was to avenge the daily Israeli military actions against Palestinians.
