Necaxa moves match to make room for Shakira concert
font size

Mexican soccer team Necaxa has moved the return Libertadores Cup match against Uruguayan team Nacional to a Mexico City stadium, because Colombian singer Shakira is using their home stadium, the Mexican club said on Monday.

Shakira will sing on Friday in Necaxa's home Victoria Stadium, in Aguascalientes 600 km north of Mexico City, on Friday, but the pre-concert preparations conflict with the Thursday night Libertadores match.

Faced with the conflict Necaxa on Sunday asked for the game to be moved to Mexico City's Azteca stadium, who obliged, giving the team the same kick-off time.

Necaxa expressed its annoyance that the regional government had not respected a contract which gives Necaxa priority in the stadium over whatever type of event.
