font size

U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday on unannounced visit, the U.S. embassy said.

Cheney would meet U.S. officials and commanders and senior Iraqi leaders, an embassy spokesman said.

Media reports said that Cheney was expected to meet Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, President Jalal Talabani and his Sunni and Shiite vice presidents to press reconciliation efforts among the Iraqi rival factions.
