Construction of China's first million kilowatt-class windmill begins
font size

In Hebei Province, the Zhangbei Shanjinghe 200-million-kilowatt class national concession wind power project recently got underway. This is the first million-kilowatt class wind power base project in China. Some 78.5% of the equipment for the project is made locally. The project will provide green, clean energy to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

A total of 1.6 billion yuan has been invested in the project. The windmill can generate 440 million kilowatts per hour. Compared with thermal power generators of the same capacity, it can save 166,000 tons of standard coal and cut the emission of sulfur dioxide by 7,454 tons and carbon dioxide by 395,000 tons annually.
