China's railway technology ranked among the ace advanced globally

China's railway technology has scored substantial results. More than 10 leading rolling stock firms have benefited from the large-scale technological imports and effected a historic leap in the production level of rolling stocks, and the country have formed an industry group of rolling stock makers, according to a source from the Ministry of Railways .

Zhuang Shuguang, deputy chief engineer of the ministry and director of its Transport Administration section, said the Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. was assigned the technology of Alstrom for turning out the CRH5-type multiple-unit trains to operate in the northeastern rail routes; the Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd., was assigned the technology of Kawasaki to make the CRH2-type multiple unit trains to operate the Nanjing-Shanghai Railway and the Tianjin-Pukou Railway; the Qingdao BSP firm adopted the technology of Bombardier of Canada for making CRH1-type multiple unit trains to operate in Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway; the Tangshan Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. used the Siemens technical-how to make the CRH3-type multiple unit trains to operate in the Beijing-Tianjin Railway in 2008.

Dalian Locomotive and Rolling Stock Mill was assigned the technology of Toshiba and U.S. EMD Corporation to make CRH3-type big-power electric locomotive and the harmony-type internal combustion locomotive, which have been in operation; the Datong Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. adopted the technology of Alstrom to make CRH2D-type, big-power electric locomotive, which will be used in coal-transporting routes; Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. has adopted the Siemens technology for making CRH2Z, big-power electric locomotive, which is now in operation; Qishuyan Rolling Stock Mills use the technology of U.S. The GE corporation is to make CRH-type big-power and the harmonious-type internal combustion locomotives.

The Yongji Electric Machine Mill, the Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute, the Chinese Academy of Railway Sciences, and other relevant firms have adopted the key technologies including the advanced traction electric machine, traction converter, traction control system and so on, has also formed a new railway vehicle-producing industry group.

China has attained the advanced and mature railway rolling stock producing technology. It now owns the core-technology to make locomotive unit trains and bi-power electric locomotives. Its vehicle making industry accelerates the pace of modernization and vital progress has also been made in the effort for re-innovation.
