More than 1.4 million computers affected by virus during May Day holiday
font size

A leading Chinese anti-virus company said on Thursday that more than 1.4 million computers nationwide were affected by viruses during the week-long Labor Day holiday.

According to statistics from Kingsoft, 1,421,198 computers were affected during the holiday, about a third more than during the same period last year.

"Most of the computers were affected by Trojan viruses because more Internet users play online games or shop online during the holidays," said Dai Guangjian, an anti-virus specialist with the company.

The Trojan viruses steal passwords of users' online gaming or banking services, said Dai.
