A suicide bombing injured an Afghan minister and killed two civilians in the southern Kandahar province on Thursday, an official told Xinhua.
The bombing killed two civilians and injured Karim Khuam, the minister of culture and information, and three others, said provincial governor Asadullah Khalid.
Earlier, a witness said Khalid was injured. The witness seemingly mistook someone else for the governor.
The attack, which occurred at around 7 p.m. (0230 GMT) in Kandahar city, the provincial capital, apparently was targeting the governor Khalid, according to a Xinhua reporter at the site.
The police have cordoned off the site, and even journalists are denied access into it.
Khalid had organized a show to the media of the dead body of top Taliban commander Mullah Dadullah killed on Saturday, while top Taliban leader Mullah Omar vowed to take revenge for Dadullah.
Kandahar province, the birthplace and a stronghold of the Taliban movement, has suffered from much Taliban-linked insurgency and violence.
Earlier Thursday, twin roadside bombing killed seven persons including three policemen and injured four others in the city.
