Cooling towers are imploded at Yongchang Power Plant in Yongchang, Southwest China's Gansu Province, May 16, 2007. Gansu Province plans to shut down more high-energy-consuming power stations in an effort to save the energy and reduce the pollution, Xinhua reported. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said in late April that the current macro-control policy must focus on energy conservation and emission reduction in order to develop the economy while protecting the environment.
