ISAF artillery round injures 4 Afghan civilians

An artillery round of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mistakenly wounded four Afghan civilians in the southern Helmand province, an ISAF statement said Friday.

The incident occurred near Garmsir village on Thursday when ISAF and Taliban militants exchanged fire, the statement said.

The wounded were given medical care at the scene and have been evacuated to an ISAF medical facility for further treatment, it added.

There are no further details available at this time, it said.

About 37,000 ISAF soldiers are being deployed across this country to hunt down militants and facilitate reconstruction.

In its military operations, ISAF has caused civilian casualties from time to time.
