Kuwait slashes Fatah al-Islam's acts in Lebanon "irresponsible"
font size

Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said on Monday that the actions and movements of the Fatah al-Islam group are irresponsible and violating the sovereignty of Lebanon, the official KUNA news agency reported.

The Foreign Ministry issued a brief statement, expressing regret over clashes between the Lebanese army and the Fatah al- Islam group currently underway in northern Lebanon, KUNA said.

Fatah al-Islam's actions "threaten security and stability, and harms the Lebanese national unity," KUNA quoted the statement as saying.

The statement then called for the safeguarding of the Lebanese sovereignty, territorial unity and stability as well as working on boosting its safety and security.

The fighting between the Lebanese troops and Fatah al-Islam militants around a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon entered the second day on Monday, raising the death toll in two days of fighting to at least 57.
