font size

Two U.S. marines were killed in the volatile province on Anbar, the U.S. military said on Wednesday.

The two were killed on Tuesday while conducting combat operations in the Sunni insurgent stronghold, a military statement said.

The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.

So far, at least 73 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq in May, bringing the U.S. death toll to some 3,425 since the outbreak of U.S.-led invasion to Iraq in 2003.
