Israeli PM vows to continue targeting Palestinian militants

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Sunday that Israel will continue its crackdown on Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, and that no one involved in attacks against Israel will be immune.

According to the website of Israeli daily the Jerusalem Post, Olmert said at the weekly cabinet meeting on the day that no one who fires rockets at Israel will be immune and Israel will not be subject to a timetable regarding its operations in Gaza.

"We will decide when, where and to what degree we operate, and no other authority will dictate the conditions to us," the prime minister was quoted as saying.

Olmert's remarks were made shortly after a Qassam rocket attack on southern Israeli town of Sderot killed a 36-year-old man and lightly injured another resident.

At least three rockets landed in Sderot on Sunday morning.

Last week, a woman was killed in Sderot after being hit by a rocket near the town's commercial center.

According to statistic of the Israel Defense Forces, more than 230 rockets have been launched by Palestinian militants against Israel since May 15.

In response to the rocket barrages, Israel carried out a series of air strikes and targeted killings against Palestinian militants in Gaza in the past two weeks, killing dozens of them.
