Militants continue rockets attacks on Israel
font size

Palestinian militant groups continued on Thursday launching homemade rockets to southern Israel, as two militants survived an Israeli tank's strike in northern Gaza Strip, militant groups and medics said.

Al-Nasser Sallah el-Dein Brigades, the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) armed wing claimed responsibility for launching two homemade rockets from Gaza Strip at southern Israel.

The group said in a statement sent to reporters that Israeli army tanks stationed in northern Gaza Strip targeted the militants with tanks shells, but they managed to withdraw after two of them were injured.

It added that the group was able to launch two projectiles at Sderot, threatening that it would continue rockets attacks on Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Wednesday chaired a meeting of his security cabinet, which decided to keep carrying out limited ground operations against rockets launchers and continue airstrikes on them.

The security cabinet decided not to accept any calm with Islamic Hamas movement, and continue military pressure on its militants to weaken them until the movement accepts Israel's condition for a truce.

Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haneya said the Palestinians do accept a truce with Israel, but adding "this truce should be complete and include all the Palestinian territories and be mutual at the same time."
