China will allocate a total of 470 million yuan (about 60.25 million U.S. dollars) to 12,000 "outstanding" people engaged in post-doctorate studies between 2006 and 2010, according to the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation (CPSF).
Special support will be given to people conducting innovative research and research for public benefit, said a CPSF official.
"People who achieve major breakthroughs or show outstanding research capabilities will be granted 100,000 yuan (12,820 U.S. dollars) as extra support," the official said.
The CPSF had provided 193.87 million yuan (about 24.8 million U.S. dollars) to a total of 12,130 post-doctorate researchers by the end of 2006 since 1990 when the foundation was established.
