U.S. first lady Laura Bush will visit Zambia this month to assess the progress that Zambia and Africa as a whole has made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Times of Zambia reported Friday.
She will meet community leaders and visit participants in AIDS program of Zambia.
The first lady will also visit Senegal, Mali and Mozambique in her African tour.
According to Washington Line on Thursday U.S. President George Bush announced in a statement that the U.S. Congress has approved 30 billion U.S. dollars for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment to Africa over the next five years.
Bush commended the first lady for her concern and passion about AIDS.
He said "we believe strongly that to whom much is given, much is required, much has been given to the United States of America. Therefore, I believe strongly that much is required of us in helping solve this problem."
