Nanjing Automobile resumes production of MG-TF sports car

The Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC) held a grand ceremony in Birmingham at the Longbridge plant on May 29th, to celebrate the resume of production of MG-TF sports cars.

During the ceremony, Liang Baohua, governor of Jiangsu province, pressed the button, officially releasing three brand-new MG-TF sports cars from the general product line. This world-renowned sports car has re-emerged in Europe, officially marking NAC's comprehensive international growth and popularity.

Over 200 people, including Luo Zhijun, secretary of the Nanjing city committee, British engineering technology and management staff, and the officers and businessmen from Jiangsu province, and the Nanjing Economic and Trade delegation, all attended the ceremony. Hundreds of fans from the British"MG car club" also drove MG" classic cars" there in support. British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott wrote a special letter of congratulations.

Since NAC purchased the assets of the British carmaker MG Rover in July 2005, within a little over a year, a modern production base has been built in Pukou, Nanjing. At the time of the NAC's 60th anniversary on March 27, 2007, the MG7 and MG-TF sports cars have been successfully put into use successfully. In April, the MG 7 was shown to the public at Auto Shanghai 2007, and received the highest honor, the"most popular" award.
