Suicide bomber kills U.S. marine in Baghdad
font size

A U.S. marine was killed in a suicide bombing attack while he was conducting foot patrol in southwestern Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

The attack took place on Saturday when the U.S. soldiers approached two suspects for questioning near a mosque, and one of the men blew himself up, a military statement said.

The latest death report brought the number of U.S. soldiers killed on Saturday to seven.

Earlier military statements said that six more soldiers were killed and eight others injured in separate attacks across Iraq.

More than 3,485 U.S. soldiers have been killed since the U.S.-led coalition forces seized Iraq in 2003, according to media tally based on Pentagon figures.
