At least 12 Iraqi soldiers were killed and 30 others wounded when a suicide truck bomber struck an Iraqi army base south of Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.
The driver detonated his explosive-laden car at a checkpoint at the entrance of an Iraqi army base near Hilla City, 100 km south of the capital, the source said on condition of anonymity.
"Local police reported that the powerful blast killed at least 12 Iraqi soldiers and injured 30 others," the source said.
Iraqi security forces, accused by Iraqi insurgents of cooperating with U.S. soldiers, are frequent targets of violence attacks.
