Attacks on Iran endanger U.S. interests all over the world: Iranian officialA senior Iranian official said on Saturday that all the U.S. interests all over the world would be exposed to danger if Washington launched attacks on the Islamic Republic, local Fars news agency reported. Iran's acting Deputy Interior Minister Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr made the remarks during his visit to the politico-ideological organization of the Islamic Republic's police forces. "During the last 28 years, Iran has always struggled with the United States' might and awe," Zolghadr was quoted as saying. "Today, all the U.S. bases in the region are within the range of our medium-range weapons," he said, adding "If security in the region, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf is disturbed, oil prices will increase to 250 (U.S.) dollars per barrel." "This means the economic and security collapse for the Europeans and the United States," Zolghadr added. Relations between Iran and the West have been tightened since the country insists it has the right to master nuclear technology for peaceful use. Washington has been seeking to impose increasing sanctions on Iran through the UN Security Council on the grounds to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear technologies. The United States has accused Iran of developing nuclear weapon project under the guise of a civilian-use program. Some observers believe that it is possible that the United States and Israel would attack Iranian targets for Tehran's suspicious nuclear programs. Source: Xinhua |
