Visiting Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said on Monday he was confident that unity of the Iranian and Nicaraguan nations is "undefeatable," local Fars news agency reported.
"I am confident that the unity between the Iranian and Nicaraguan nations is undefeatable because we want this unity for defending independence, peace and justice," Ortega told reporters at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
"We are two countries with common goals, and what matters to us is achievement of solidarity among nations," he added.
Ortega termed his visit to Tehran as "very positive and sensitive," and attached significance to Tehran-Managua cooperation, saying that the two states could expand relations in all areas.
He said that during his trip, the two sides have discussed cooperation in energy and power sectors, which he termed to be very important to his country.
The Nicaraguan president voiced enthusiasm for expanding trade and economic exchanges with the Islamic Republic, saying that such exchanges would start following the formation of the two countries ' joint economic commission.
Ahmadinejad said there is no obstacle to develop cooperation between the two countries, and Iran fully supports Nicaraguan independence, dignity and development.
Ahmadinejad underlined that Iran is determined to expand all- out political, economic and cultural cooperation with Nicaragua and there is no hurdle in broadening mutual ties.
"We are now witnessing a modern and revolutionary breakthrough among the Latin American nations and their demands are the same as the liberated nations around the globe," he said.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Ortega arrived here Sunday morning for an official two-day visit to Iran.
