Cuban leader Fidel Castro ridiculed U.S. President George W. Bush's recent visit to eastern European countries, the official daily Granma reported on Thursday.

In an article titled "In need of love," Castro warned about U.S. support for Albania's immediate accession to NATO, and said that Albania was the only country where Bush received love.

"The welcome (Bush) received seemed cold in Bulgaria, where thousands of people holding U.S. flags were waiting for him," Castro said.

"Bush's support for Albania's immediate entry into NATO and his decision to demand the independence of Kosovo province drove many Albanians crazy," he said.

The Cuban leader said the "thorny" problem of independence of part of Serbia is very controversial in Europe as it could become a precedent that can be followed by regions in other countries that claim sovereignty.

Bush visited Albania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Poland earlier this month.
