Iran on Saturday voiced its readiness to help resolve Palestinian differences following days of bloody fighting between Hamas and Fatah which had killed more than 130 Palestinians, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"While inviting all the Palestinian groups to dialogue for settlement of internal disputes and avoiding factional clashes, Iran is prepared to offer any help in that connection," Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said.

He said the Islamic Republic once again voiced concern about recent bloody factional clashes in the Palestinian territories and was closely following up current developments in Gaza.

On Thursday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is also leader of Fatah movement, sacked the unity government. On Friday, Hamas said it had seized all security compounds in the Gaza Strip.

"Iran has always been against civil war, believing that it is harmful to the cause of Palestinian revolution," Hosseini said. " We believe that Palestinian groups should close their ranks and launch joint campaign against the Zionist enemy to end occupation of their homeland and vindicate all their denied rights."

"The Palestinian factions should honor outcome of their elections in order to restore democracy," he added.

Hosseini also said that Iran has consulted with different Muslim and Arab countries, including Syria, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, hoping that collaboration among Muslims would produce favorable results for the Palestinian nation.
