China hands over office equipment to Nepali parliament

Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Nepal Zheng Xianglin handed over various office equipment to secretary general of the Nepali parliament Surya Kiran Gurung amidst a program organized in Kathmandu on Monday.

The gifts handed over to Nepali parliament were offered by the Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China Li Tieying to the Speaker of the legislature-parliament Subash Chandra Nemwang during his visit to Nepal in January this year.

Among the equipment handed over during the ceremony of signing the certificate of delivery and acceptance of the gifts included 24 units of laptop computers, twenty units of desktop computers, ten units of laser jet printer and four units of multi-function printer, all belonging to Lenovo brand products of China.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinese ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin said the government and the people of China are glad to witness the great achievements made by Nepal in recent days while heading towards peace and prosperity.

Stating that Nepal and China enjoyed a long history of friendship and brotherhood, Zheng added that this was also marked by the sound cooperation between the parliaments and the governments of Nepal and China.

On behalf of Chinese government and the people, he expressed firm belief that Nepal would realize peace and harmony and wished for peace, stability, development and prosperity at the earliest.

"Chinese government attaches great importance to the good neighborly friendship between China and Nepal and always adheres to the friendly policy to Nepal," said the Chinese ambassador adding the Parliamentary exchanges are important part of the bilateral relationship.

Also speaking on the occasion, Secretary-general of the Nepali legislature-parliament Gurung stated that he wishes to take the opportunity to appreciate the economic progress and the overall developments made by China. Nepal has a lot to learn and share from the experiences of its friendly neighbor China, he added.

Gurung expressed confidence that the gifts offered would assist the legislature-parliament of Nepal to enhance efficiency in its day-to-day work.

On behalf of Nepali Legislators and Parliamentarians, he also expressed appreciation towards the gesture of goodwill shown by the friendly neighbor China.

Also present on the occasion were Nepali Speaker of the Legislature-Parliament Subash Chandra Nemwang, Deputy Speaker Chitra Lekha Yadav and high-ranking officials of the Parliamentary Secretariat.
