Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa said here on Tuesday that he will meet Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary general of the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah during his visit to Lebanon, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.

Moussa, leading an AL delegation, made the remarks in a statement before his departure for Beirut, saying that his mission is to seek a settlement to the current Lebanese political crisis through narrowing the gap of views among the Lebanese political rivals.

Moussa said that he would also hold talks with all Lebanese factions during his several-day visit there, including Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora, opposition leader and parliamentary speaker Nabih Berri as well as other Lebanese political leaders.

Lebanon has been locked in a political impasse since last November's resignation of six opposition ministers from Seniora's cabinet, five of them Shiites from the pro-Syrian Hezbollah and Amal movements.

Tensions ran high in the country lately with a series of deadly bombings and fierce clashes between the army and Islamist extremists in the north as the United Nations began the steps and measures last week to formally establish a special tribunal to try suspects in the murder of former prime minister Rafik Hariri.
