Macedonia has got everything ready for hosting the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council Security Forum (EAPS) scheduled for 28-29 of June in Ohrid in south Macedonia, news from Skopje reported on Friday.
"Everything is ready for the event," Adnan Kahil, the forum's organization coordinator said on Friday. "We expect to gather together 600 attendants, including NATO Secretary General Jaap De Hoop Scheffer and US Under-Secretary of State Nickolas Burns."
He said about 200 reporters are coming to cover the meeting which will be protected by over 2000 police, and that a special traffic flow regime will be in place during the summit, Makfax, Macedonia's independent news agency, reported.
Most of the delegates are scheduled to land at the Ohrid Airport, whose staffs have been supplemented with their colleagues from the Skopje Airport.
"The Ohrid Airport is absolutely safe and ready to receive some 50 planes that fly delegations here," said Zoran Krstevski, director of the Macedonia's air-traffic administration.
The Ohrid forum is the second of its kind since the Euro- Atlantic Partnership Council was created in Portugal in 1997. The first meeting was held in Sweden on May 24-25, 2006.
Afghanistan, Kosovo and the Balkans, and energy security will top this year's agenda.
