A U.S. soldier was killed and one more injured in Iraq on Saturday bringing the number of the soldiers killed in the day to 11, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

A soldier belongs to Multinational Division-Baghdad was killed and another wounded during combat operations in an area northwest of the capital, a military statement said.

Earlier in the day, the military announced the killing of two more soldiers across Iraq, including one killed by small arms fire in southern Baghdad.

In earlier statements the military has reported eight U.S. soldier deaths on Saturday, including four in a single roadside bomb attack.

More than 3,555 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
