Daily violence continued in Thailand's restive deep south as a gunman fired into a local teashop, killing one and injured four people in Pattani province Tuesday morning.

Police said the suspect riding on the pillion of a motorbike stopped in front of the teashop in the Muang district (provincial seat) of Pattani. He walked toward the teashop and began to open fire, according to a report by news network The Nation.

Also in Pattani, a bomb exploded minutes after a light truck carrying patrol soldiers passed by Tuesday morning, Thai News Agency reported.

The bomb was detonated in Khok Pho district, shortly after the vehicle boarding a patol unit providing security for local teachers, passed by.

Suspected bombers were believed to have missed the target. No one was wounded in the incident.

While in nearby province Yala, a school and the office of a local government office in the provincial seat were destroyed in separate arson attacks Monday night,

Tuesday morning, an unoccupied house opposite a highway district office in Also in Yala's provincial seat was burned.

Insurgent violence has plagued the three southernmost provinces of Thailand--Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat for three and a half years, killing over 2,300 people in the region.
