A total of 96 pupils in two primary schools in East Malaysia's state of Sarawak were suspected suffering from food poisoning on Tuesday, reports said.

The pupils in two primary schools in the town of Batu Niah complained of stomach ache and diarrhea after taking packed lunch on Monday, Malaysia's national news services Bernama said.

More than 40 pupils aged 10-12 were receiving outpatient treatment at a clinic there while the others were in mild condition, Bernama said.

The local health authorities had been informed of the case and took some samples of the food for investigation.
