The Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) is ready to facilitate the opening of Gaza crossing points without pledging to change the forms of resistance against Israel, a spokesman said on Thursday.
Hamas' spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri told reporters in Gaza that "The movement is committed to all kinds of resistance to protect the Palestinian people from the (Israeli) occupation and aggression."
Abu Zuhri remarks came after the Israeli radio reported that Hamas asked Israel to open the terminals in and out of Gaza Strip while Hamas stops all kind of resistance in return.
"We did not give any such commitment and will never give in any way," said Abu Zuhri. However, he added that Hamas "can secure the safety at the crossings and provide all facilities needed to reopen them."
Regarding Rafah border crossing, the only terminal for Palestinians, Abu Zuhri said his movement was in contact with Egypt to open the crossing, counting on the fact that it was a Palestinian-Egyptian border terminal.
Earlier in June, Rafah crossing was closed, a few days before Hamas took control of Gaza Strip. However, Israel has sealed off all cargo and traveler crossings since the middle of the month.
