Australian Attorney-General condemns London bomb plot

Australian Attorney-General Philip Ruddock on Saturday condemned the foiled car bombing plot in London.

But he said Australia will not step up security as a response.

British counter-terrorism experts defused two explosive-laden cars, which were capable of causing significant injury or loss of life, in London on Friday, reports reaching here said.

"Under the National Counter Terrorism Plan, Australia has well coordinated and practiced procedures to deal with any terrorist threat," Ruddock said in a statement.

But he pointed out that it would be too early to say who were behind the London bombing plot.

"It would be inappropriate to speculate whether this is a terrorist-related incident at this stage," he said.
