The casualty toll rose to four killed and up to 25 others injured in a car bombing near a popular market in northern Baghdad on Monday, an Interior Ministry source said.
"Our latest reports said that four people were killed and 25 others wounded in the car bomb attack in Bunouk neighborhood," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, the source said that a car bomb parking near a popular market and a church in the neighborhood detonated in the evening. The bombing killed at least two people and wounded five others while destroying several shops and civilian cars.
Violence continued in the capital despite a security plan staged by the U.S. and Iraqi security forces in the capital since Feb. 14 with the aim of putting under control the rampant violence.
