Fifth World Chambers Congress to be held in Turkey
font size

The Fifth World Chambers Congress will be held in the Turkish commercial hub of Istanbul between July 4 and 6, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Monday.

Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), was quoted as saying that 1, 413 delegations from 110 countries will participate in the event.

"We want to have more share in world trade. Turkey has to be a global player, and it is an economic power in the region," Hisarciklioglu noted.

The congress, which will be hosted by the TOBB in cooperation with the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), is expected to be opened by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Managing global risks, securing the future of energy, migration- beyond borders, partnership for prosperity-supporting Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development, and threats to multilateralism are the main topics to be discussed in the congress, the report said.

The world chambers congress, which is held every two years by the World Chambers Federation, aims to provide an international forum for chamber executives worldwide to share best-practice experience, develop networks and learn about new areas of innovation from other chambers.

World Chambers Federation is the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)'s specialized division for its chamber of commerce members worldwide.
