It is ridiculous to regard national education as "brain-washing"
Implementing the national education has turned into a common practice in most countries of the world, but it has led to disputes in Hong Kong surprisingly. Then, what kind of education can be called "brain-washing?"
The chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Culture Development Association Huang Furong wrote in an article that those blindly calling the national education "brain-washing" actually have neglected students' freedom of choice and self-studying course.
Since the current media is so powerful, pupils and middle school students of Hong Kong receive so much information through so many channels every day that they form their ideas and senses of worth at any time. Therefore, it is impossible that they will be "brain-washed" by their teachers. We should trust our students more.
A senior media operator named Liang Liren criticized the opponents of the national education for their "pro-West affection," saying that they only allow using Western ideas to "brain-wash" people but do not allow using the patriotism to "brain-wash" the people.
However, many supporters of the national education also agree that as long as the national education is not denied fundamentally, it is logical and reasonable to discuss about the content and form of the national education.
