China's prestigious Tsinghua University has produced 49 prominent Chinese political leaders since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the highest number among all Chinese universities, according to the latest prominent political alumni list released by China University Alumni Association (CUAA).
Tsinghua University is followed by Peking University, which has educated 48 graduates who later became prominent state leaders, provincial and ministerial-level officials, and members and alternate members of the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th CPC Central Committees.
The CUAA sampled more than 1400 political elites in China to generate this year's list. 39 Chinese universities are on the list, which boast great operation capabilities and good social reputation, and have cultivated more than five prominent political leaders for the country.
The universities included on the list are mostly distributed in provincial-level regions including Beijing, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Shandong, Shanghai and Tianjin.
